The “Rincon de Olalla” is a
typical labourer’s cottage of the valley that has been restored respecting the
original materials, stone and wood, with which it was constructed.
SANTA OLALLA is a small village in Valdeolea, south-west Cantabria
(in the North of Spain), in the region of Campóo-Los-Valles. At 1000 m. above sea level it is
considered a high mountain area.
It is surrounded by meadows and forests of oak, beech
and holly. Its’ varied wildlife benefits from the enormous natural resources of
the area and the sparse human population in the valley. The area has a very
rich cultural and historical heritag
The nearest and most important towns are Reinosa (11
Km.) and Mataporquera (10 Km.), situated on the N-611 Santander-Palencia road
(A- 67).

typical dishes of the area and have a drink in Casasola, in the “Tasca Camesa”
(Olea), and in the bars and inns of
Mataporquera, Reinosa and Aguilar de Campóo. Don't miss
the "olla ferroviaria" (railway stew) typical of Mataporquera and
Valdeolea, bread loaves from Olea cooked in a wood-burning range, heather
honey, chorizo (sausage) from Reinosilla, and not forgetting the
"pantortillas" and "rosquillas" typical pastries of
Reinosa.... and veal, suckling pig etc. of great quality from Castilla. "Olla ferroviaria" (rail stew)
